![]() A minifig of Hermione is included, completing the Trio after last year's GWP contained only Ron and Harry (fair enough for a boys' dorm, though, I'd imagine □). The eponymous staircase is moveable, and the walls are covered in a number of portraits, like we've seen in the films. The set is described as following: it contains two pieces of the castle walls at 90* angles in the current modular format. If true, that would be a very cool move on lego's part.Ĥ0289 2018's Diagon Alley, 374 pieces and one exclusive minifigĤ0412 2019's Hagrid & Buckbeak BrickHeadz, 270 pieces and no minifigģ0628 2020's Monster Book of Monsters, 316 pieces and one exclusive minifigĤ0452 2021's Gryffindor Dorms, 140 pieces and two non-exclusive minifigs (appearing in one and two other sets) Can you design one of your own?īrickClickr has been at it again, and reports that this year's last remaining unidentified Harry Potter lego set 40577 will be the Grand Staircase, and should be a GWP (Gift With Purchse), probably in July, which would be a departure from the usual autumn timeframe, but would allow us to take advantage of the offer before the planned price increases in September. w00t!Ībove a model I made of eight different variants of the castle from the pieces included in the Polybag (those would be front and centre). Last year the Hermione's Study Desk Polybag was only included on purchases made in the physical lego stores, so this would be a lovely change if accurate. In the past, they've stacked freebies, so that would be nice. I'll provide details as they emerge.) However during the same period, promobricks has announced we can expect to see this year's HP Polybag 30435 Build Your Own Castle Hogwarts with all lego Harry Potter theme purchases upwards of 40 Euros. (In Germany, those are purchases of 130 Euros or more, in the US the threshold is rumoured to be $130. Promobricks reports that we can look forward to another GWP (Gift with Purchase) next month, at least in some regions, so keep your eyes peeled!Īs I've already covered, we can expect to see 40577 Hogwarts: Grand Staircase included free of charge as a GWP from the 15th to the 31st of July (or while supplies last) with all qualifying lego Harry Potter purchases in the LEGO (lego's online shop) and in the brick and mortar stores. (dah dah dah dunnnnnn) More on that soon. Curiously Marcos didn't mention that this is likely to be his last time representing the theme at the CON though. While I remain convinced we're not the target audience (more's the pity, because I am definitely capable of squeeeeeing), the event seems like a good way to drum up enthusiasm, and I still look forward to seeing it again next year. ( Collapse )Īnd that was it for the Harry Potter content. Those have been visible on the lego website so long now, however, that perhaps it didn't seem particularly newsworthy. ![]() The result was they were left trying to come up with some new content, and yet a little oddly, they didn't focus on the new summer sets all that much. Note, that's not a criticism, that's simply a function of the timing of the event and ever shortening product cycles, and it's telling for the significance of the Harry Potter theme (one of lego's top five sellers again last year) that this much time was allocated to the Wizarding World despite this. The CON gave us a surprising 10 minutes worth of Harry Potter lego coverage, which was nice, especially as they didn't really have anything new they could have shown us at the moment. (So in the US that would be at 12am EDT.) The gift with purchases are automatically added to your shopping cart when the conditions are met, so you don't have to worry about forgetting to click something, which is nice. (That would be 40529 Children's Amusement Park.) Unfortunately in the absence of the store calendars (*sniffle*), I've no idea if we'll be getting the same deal, but it does make one hope.Īlso, if the Australian store is any indication, expect the special offer to start at midnight in the first time zone in your country, because it doesn't look like they distinguish between them. (So they're including 30435 Build Your Own Hogwarts polybag then as well.) The stores in question also included a third GWP if its threshold was met. I've had a poke around their stores and can confirm that they're awarding both GWPs if you make a purchase qualifying for 40577 Hogwarts: Grand Staircase. The GWP (gift with purchase) is currently active in Australia and New Zealand.
